Tournaments

Costa Blanca Villas’ Mantarraya Golf Club hosts a number of tournaments ​throughout the year.  Many are private or open to the public and are charitable events run by specific organizations while others are more competitive tournaments by the Panamian Golf Association such as the InterClub championships.

That said, we are most proud of some of the local tournaments organized and ran by our owners and seasonal renters. Again, like the leagues, without these volunteer they would not be possible.  Some of the more notable annual local tournaments include:

Green Jacket Tournament (Founded in 2010) – Current convenor: Denis Rainville.

​

• The tournament takes place in February - March.  

• The tournament is open to anyone playing in the Men’s League.

• Invitations is normally sent out sometime in January to the players on my men’s day list.

• Handicaps are obtained from the men’s day handicapping system.

• The cost to play is $40 per person.

• 100% of the registration fees are distributed to the winners.

• The winner gets the Green Jacket and the trophy for one year.

Team Match play tournament* (Founded in 2014) – Current convenor: Denis Rainville

​

• The tournament takes place in January - February.  

• The team must have one male and one female.

• Invitations are normally sent out sometime in December to the players on my men’s day list, and the invitation is also posted on the community chat.  It is also forwarded to those participating in the mixed social.

• Handicaps are obtained from the men’s day handicapping system, and from the ladies league.

• The cost to play is $50 per person.

• Until last year, 100% of the  proceeds from the tournament were used to purchase and distribute books to the children of Decameron employees (encourage reading). 

• Starting in 2025, 100% of the proceeds were/will be used to help students attending university (promote higher education).  

• The winning team also gets to share the trophy for one year.

• 2024: 32 participants.

• 2025: 30 participants.

• Funds collected in 2025: $3,700.

• Total funds collected since 2014: $27,000.

Pink Glove Tournament 

 

• Open to female golfers.

• 2 person team.

• Handicaps are required.

• Match play format.

 

Memorial Tournament (Founded in 2024) - Current organizers: Jeff Zerr and Pierre Marleau.

 

• Open to all golfers

• 2 person scramble

• Held usually in the Middle of March

• 2024 - 86 golfers

• 2025 - 96 golfers
